Understanding Intensive Outpatient (IOP) and Outpatient (OP) Drug & Alcohol Programs

admin June 7, 2016

What is an intensive outpatient (IOP) program or outpatient (OP) program?

After completing a successful detox at an inpatient addiction program patients will often move to an intensive outpatient program for further treatment. An IOP program will typically include individual and group therapies. The therapists in the IOP program will work with the client to continue recovery using treatments such as trauma support, relapse prevention, mindfulness meditation and other therapies based on individual needs.

The overall goal is to help prepare clients to gradually return to society while providing them with the skills and tools necessary to continue their recovery. An IOP or OP program allows for flexibility with the patients schedule. While a client is attending an intensive outpatient addiction treatment program, they are able to continue attending school or work. At Silicon Beach Outpatient treatment center we work with sober living facilities as needed for clients.

What services does an IOP or OP provide?

Along with individual and group therapies our intensive outpatient (IOP) program or outpatient (OP) program center offers clients specialized treatment for substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. Relapse prevention is another important aspect of IOP and OP addiction treatment. Relapse prevention focuses on providing the client with the knowledge to recognize the warning signs of relapse.

Silicon Beach Outpatient addiction treatment center also addresses the psychological, emotional, and behavioral components of addiction while simultaneously treating underlying traumas and co-occurring disorders. Long-term sobriety is the primary focus of our drug and alcohol addiction treatment program. Specialized care for co-morbid disorders such as anxiety, depression, and other mood disorders is also provided by our experienced and dedicated staff.
