What is an intensive outpatient (IOP) program or outpatient (OP) program?
After completing a successful detox at an inpatient addiction program patients will often move to an intensive outpatient program for further treatment. An IOP program will typically include individual and group therapies. The therapists in the IOP program will work with the client to continue recovery using treatments such as trauma support, relapse prevention, mindfulness meditation and other therapies based on individual needs. The overall goal is to help prepare clients to gradually return to society while providing them with the skills and tools necessary to continue their recovery. An IOP or OP program allows for flexibility with the patients schedule. While a client is attending an intensive outpatient addiction treatment program, they are able to continue attending school or work.
