Crisis intervention

admin May 24, 2019

Crisis intervention is an immediate and short-term psychological state of mind. Individuals who are in crisis mode experience an event that produces emotional, mental, physical, and behavioral distress or problems. Crisis intervention is used to minimize the potential of long-term psychological trauma and assist individuals in order to restore equilibrium to their bio-psycho-social functioning. A crisis often refers to individuals not being able to cope and function due to a recent death of a loved one, natural disaster, severe physical injury, divorce, birth of a child or a specific emotional crisis. When someone is in crisis, they are unable to use their normal problem-solving skills or resources. Here at Silicon Beach Treatment we will be able to teach and help you learn new skills and tools to cope and function normally. Assessment of the crisis and the individual’s current emotional well-being is where it all begins. Learning to process and regulate emotions is of utmost importance as well as learning grounding techniques. It is important to understand that a crisis is not long-term and finding a safe place and support to cope with the crisis brings a sense of release and comfort.

Our clinicians at Silicon Beach Treatment Center are highly skilled and trained with dealing in crisis intervention. If you feel that you or a loved one is in a crisis, we will be able to help assist you in managing and coping with your current stressors.
